Remember the milkman?
Same idea, greasier job. We come by on a regular schedule, on the day we said and at the time we said, clean your hood vents down to bare metal, and leave your kitchen ready for the morning shift. Serving Des Moines and Ames.
How it works
We show up. Every time.
Most hood cleaners are easy to hire and hard to get back. We built Mainline around the part they skip: being there when we said we would.
- We set your scheduleWe look at what you cook and how much, and confirm how often NFPA 96 calls for cleaning.
- You’re on the routeEvery visit is booked for you, with a heads-up the day before. Access gets sorted out once.
- We clean after closeHood, filters, plenum, ductwork, and fan, down to bare metal. Ready to open in the morning.
- Proof the same dayBefore and after photos and an inspector-ready report in your client portal.
Pricing depends on your system and schedule. Every plan starts with a free inspection. See a sample service report.

About Mainline
Two friends, a work van, and a stubborn belief that showing up on time is still a selling point. Mainline is a local business built on the old-school stuff: honest work, a fair price, and a handshake that means something. We treat your kitchen the way we’d want ours treated.

Fair questions
How much does it cost?
It depends on the size of your hood and duct system and how often you need us. Quotes are free and come with no pressure. Just fill out the form.
How often does my hood need cleaning?
The fire code sets the schedule based on how much and what you cook. We just keep it.
- MonthlySolid fuel cooking, such as wood or charcoal.
- Every 3 monthsHigh-volume kitchens: 24-hour operations, charbroiling and wok cooking.
- Every 6 monthsModerate-volume restaurants.
- Once a yearLow-volume kitchens, like churches and seasonal operations.
Based on NFPA 96 guidelines. Your local fire marshal or insurer may require more often, so we'll confirm the right schedule for your kitchen.
Do I have to remember to book?
Nope. That’s our job. You’re on a recurring schedule, and we’ll remind you the day before every visit.
Will you disrupt my kitchen?
Not if we’re doing it right. Our crew cleans after you close, covers your equipment and floors, and leaves the kitchen ready to open.
How long does a visit take?
Most visits take a few hours, depending on the size of your system. We'll give you an estimate with your quote.
What do I get when you're done?
Before and after photos and video, a service sticker on your hood, and a report you can show your fire inspector and insurance company. See a sample report.
We have several kitchens. Can you handle all of them?
Yes. Restaurant groups, schools, hospitals, senior living, hotels, and churches get one point of contact, visits planned across every location around your hours, and one portal login with every location’s reports and invoices.
Why does grease buildup matter?
Grease in your hood vents is fuel. One flare-up on the line and that buildup can carry fire into your ductwork. Regular cleaning takes the fuel away.
